Tip of the Week : The power of General Schedules - Caryn Morgan

Posted in [Alarm Automation], [Tips], [Training] By Caryn Morgan

One of my favorite features within Manitou is the General Schedules feature.  As someone who is dyslexic and a reasonably slow reader, I tend to start to skim notes after three sentences and I read what my brain thinks it says on the page not necessarily what is actually written there on the page.  So, when the is an opportunity to allow for Automation to take away my chance to misinterpret instructions I take it!

General Schedules within Manitou have three really powerful options:

Keyholder Availability - which allows for the ability to enable and disable telephone numbers based on the day of the week and time of the day.

Call List Availability - which allows for the ability to change who shows on the call list based on the day of the week and time of the day.

Programming - which allows to you to change the nature of an event based on the day of the week and the time of the day.

Have you ever had that irate customer call you one too many times saying, "I told you to never call me at three o'clock in the morning!!"?  Now, you can eliminate those calls with a simple addition of a general schedule!  You can manage the sites that always trip a zone during the deliveries on Wednesdays between 3 and 5 AM without having to pop a note to an operator.

All general schedule usage requires planning and buy-in from your customers, but eliminating notes and reducing what an operator actually has to interpret will reduce errors and improve your customer service!
