Over the life of your Manitou installation there will be many changes to the system. These changes should be reflected in your system's configuration, this includes everything from system reconfigurations (i.e. moving an Application Server to a separate machine), to changes in the your FEP (i.e. adding a new receiver). It is important to keep all your configurations up to date across all your servers. In case of a failover, out-dated configurations can turn a sigh of relief over having your backup server in place - into a mad dash to get the configuration off the previous server.
There are two main areas to check when validating your configurations:
* The Configuration form (Supervisor Workstation: Maintenance Menu, Setup, Configuration)
- Verify that the server names, IP addresses and parameters are correct for each configuration (accessible through the "System" drop-down)
* The FEP configuration (Supervisor Workstation: Maintenance Menu, Setup, Receivers)
- Make sure that all FEPs are listed
- Make sure that the COM ports are correct based on each FEPs serial port concentrator (digi)
- Make sure that receivers are correct across any and all FEPs
- Make sure all lines configurations are updated or the receivers are linked across each configuration
Making sure that the configurations and FEPs are set up properly can prevent the headaches associated with the previously mentioned mad dash!
