It's a new year! - Shaun Blair

With the start of the New Year upon us I thought it would be a good time to reiterate a couple important points that may affect your upcoming Manitou software upgrade.

Because technology is constantly changing it is important for your software provider to adapt and embrace changes in the underlying technology when necessary. Bold Technologies makes every effort to test and ensure compatibility with products such SQL Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. This makes it much easier for you to support your internal IT infrastructure. You will be able to plan a hardware upgrade without having unnecessary constraints to work around in the purchasing process. It is not necessary to try and purchase an XP workstation just to run the Manitou client because we have made sure the client is compatible with the latest windows operating system.

This does however force us to End of Life certain products from time to time. Currently we are no longer supporting Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft Server 2000. If you are currently running either of these products you will need to upgrade before you can install Manitou version 1.6.

Another consideration for 1.6 is BoldNet. The new BoldNet product requires a valid SSL certificate to operate properly. We are encouraging all of our clients to purchase this certificate from a reputable vendor prior to your scheduled upgrade.

If you have any questions please contact our Customer Care department and we will be happy to discuss this in detail.
