Tip of the Week : Stay up to date! - Patrick Dench

Posted in [Manitou Maintenance], [Tips] By Brandon Lilly

Keeping your Manitou system up-to-date provides many advantages; including bug-fixes, unlocking new features and reducing down-time.  Each new Manitou patch contains any number of fixes for issues found in past versions.  While the majority of problems are very obscure, the best way to avoid known issues is to keep your Manitou system running on the most recent version.

In addition to fixing bugs, newer releases and patches unlock many new features, such as the "Audit Trail" found in version 1.5.3.  These new features can help your business improve productivity, accountabilty and potentially help to drive new sales!  Finally, postponing an update for several versions can extend the down time required to update a system.  For example, upgrading from 1.5.2 to 1.5.3 is a fairly simple process for one of our technicians, and can generally be accomplished in a single morning.  However, upgrading from 1.4.8 to 1.5.3 is a very involved process that has the potential to be drawn out over two or more days!  In order to avoid those days of uncertainty, make sure you stay up-to-date on your Manitou system.

You can find information on patches and release in the Cybrary on the Bold Technologies website.  If you would like to get your system updated, contact our project manager Melanie Harvey at melanieh@boldgroup.com.
