Introducing Manitou 1.5.3. and a New Release Notes Process

Posted in [Bold Life], [Manitou Maintenance], [News], [Uncategorized] By Brandon Lilly

We’re changing the way we do things around here, starting with release of and how we release version release notes for Manitou 1.5.3! In the past, we’ve created a separate document for each patch release that can be downloaded from our MyBold Cybrary. Moving forward, however, we’ll be putting all patch notes into one single document for you to download. This document will begin with the Manitou 1.5.3 changes and contain all forthcoming patch release notes for Manitou 1.5.3.

This is beneficial for several reasons:

1.      No more searching through 25-30 separate documents for a change that was made months prior. With one single document, you can utilize the PDF search function and search the entire set of notes at once. You can even search by ticket number to see if an item that you submitted has been included in a previous or latest patch release.

2.       Access to a continuously updated document, including the Manitou 1.5.3 changes. You can check to see if you have the latest version of the notes by checking the Printed On date in the document or by the uploaded date in the Cybrary. If any changes are made to previously released patches, you’ll be able to read about them in a special versioning section included in the document which discusses changes made to prior patches.

3.       Upgrade instructions located in one convenient place. Patches must always be updated sequentially, so it’s vitally important that you read the upgrade instructions for each patch you’re upgrading to. With the one document format, it’s less of a hassle to read through each set of upgrade instructions since they are located in one handy-dandy spot.

4.       Linking to related patch items. Sometimes changes are made in a previous patch release that must be revisited or addressed from another angle in a later patch. These items will be hyperlinked so that you can get a complete picture of the original issue and any additional follow up information.

To download the latest Manitou 1.5.3 Changes/Release Notes…

1.       Log in to your MyBold account at www.boldgroup.com. If you don't have a MyBold login, click on the Register link and begin the registration process. You should have a new login and password shortly.

2.       Once logged in, click on the MyBold link and select Cybrary.

3.       Click on Release Notes > Manitou 1.5.3. Here, you’ll find the latest document for Manitou 1.5.3.

You can also sign up through RSS feed and know the second a new document is uploaded regarding 1.5.3. Copy the following URL: http://www.boldgroup.com/portals/0/NewsFeeds/BoldFeed.xml and add it to your RSS reader.

Remember, we still publish release summaries prior to the 15th of every month, which summarize the maintenance items that will be included in the upcoming monthly patch releases. You can find these in the MyBold Cybrary under Release notes > Release Summaries.
